With 15 years experience in Tokyo, two years in Austria and just over 11 years in Bangkok, Tim has taught in almost every adult-teaching environment imaginable.

From teaching on the shop floor to nuclear-reactor engineers in a clean room, from off-duty lounges for hospital staff to VIP offices for fast-track executives, from freshmen university students to retirees, and with classes of over 220 to private one-on-one, Tim has a huge store of experience to share with his colleagues.

As a language teacher, Tim takes pride in having sat on both sides of the desk throughout his career completing his Masters and PhD and learning three languages – French, German and Japanese during his teaching career.

As an experienced educator and life-long student, Tim revels being in the classroom and believes that learning in itself is and should be fun.

While no longer involved in the financial planning industry, Tim was owner-partner in Japan’s oldest financial services company for five years. Dealing exclusively with fellow educators throughout Japan, Tim was able to quadruple the firm’s revenue in two years. Selling his interests in the firm in 1996, he moved to Bangkok in 1997 to venture into journalism.

Following 18 months as Executive Editor for the new defunct Guide of Bangkok, he used this hiatus from teaching to hone his writing and editing skills. However, after a long-stint away from the classroom, Tim felt the urge to return to his passion – helping others to learn.

Since 2000, Tim has taught language courses, in-house training programs, undergraduate and graduate courses, and has led workshops and seminars throughout Bangkok.

Co-founder of Thailand Educators Network (TEN), Managing Consultant for his own company Speech Work Consultancy and Head Teacher for guided-ielts.com, Tim is an entrepreneurial educator.

He is always interested in hearing about new projects or challenging teaching assignments so that he can continue to expand his experience and add to his repertoire of skills.

Tim is a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) and Past Division Governor for Toastmasters in Thailand. A member in the Rotary Club of Bangkok South, he was editor of the club’s weekly magazine South Wind for five years.
